dna testing

Data from DNA testing can lead to improved cessation rates by allowing physicians to select the most effective anti-addiction medications for Assisted Recovery Center of Georgia clients — based, at least in part, on genetic factors that predispose them to treatment success or failure rather than on a trial and error basis. Our process begins with the collection of a patient’s saliva, which then undergoes genetic testing to provide us with an “addiction panel” so our doctors can measure the patient’s ability to metabolize currently prescribed or prospective medications.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program is for individuals who do not require medically assisted detox from alcohol or opiates. Clients who have completed detox through ARC are encouraged to enter this eight-week program, which allows them to continue gaining the tools and skills they need to be successful at long term recovery from alcohol abuse, opiate abuse, or benzodiazepine addiction. Clients' family members are also provided with the opportunity to enter our family support program.

This program is designed for clients who live in the greater Savannah area and can come to our offices four times a week for group therapy and once a week for individual therapy.

Group therapy sessions last for about 2 hours and are facilitated by a licensed therapist. These group sessions are not 12-step based and utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy and cognitive restructuring methods. With the help of the therapist and group members, clients learn how to adjust to life without the use of alcohol or drugs. Clients will have the opportunity to work individually with a licensed therapist for 8 hours. Based on the needs of the client and the therapist's assessment, these hours may be used for individual or family therapy. These hours will be scheduled at the convenience of the client, family, and therapist.

Clients who would be best suited for this program include:

OPIATE RECOVERY PROGRAM

At Assisted Recovery Center of Georgia, we offer an Opiate Recovery Program which is designed to minimize any disruption in your daily routine by utilizing Suboxone to treat opiate addiction. Suboxone is a long-acting opiate with a built-in opiate antagonist which decreases the likelihood of abuse. Suboxone is given initially to stabilize the addicted individual and then the dosage is slowly decreased.

Specially trained registered nurses work with the individual to help manage any withdrawal symptoms that they may have during this tapering process. The individual is then given Naltrexone to alleviate or improve the opiate cravings and help maintain long term abstinence. This process generally takes 3-13 weeks and is combined with a specially designed counseling program.

Please find more information on opiate recovery here. Our goal at Assisted Recovery Center is to help people get off opiates, maintain abstinence, and get their lives back.

This Program Includes:

  • Screening, intake, and an orientation to our agency and services

  • Physical Assessment by a physician or nurse practitioner

  • Nursing assessment by our nurse practitioner

  • Clinical Assessment and Individualized Treatment Planning with a clinician
