OPIATE RECOVERY PROGRAM

Opiates are a class of drugs generally prescribed to treat pain. These drugs include Oxycontin, Lortab, Codeine, Hydrocodone, Morphine, Heroin, Methadone, Percocet and many others. Addiction can occur when taking these medications, even if taken as prescribed, in as little as two weeks.

In the past, there were very few choices for people who found themselves addicted to opiates. Many people were forced to make daily trips to a Methadone Clinic to receive methadone -a long-acting opiate- to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Some people were able to wean themselves off methadone, but few succeeded at abstinence.

In late 2002, the FDA approved two new medications, Subutex and Suboxone, to treat opiate addiction. These medications may be prescribed by a limited number of specially trained physicians in an office setting and will allow more flexibility and options to an opiate-addicted person.

At Assisted Recovery Center of Georgia, we offer an Opiate Program which is designed to minimize any disruption in your daily routine by utilizing Suboxone to treat opiate addiction. Suboxone is a long-acting opiate with a built-in opiate antagonist which decreases the likelihood of abuse. Suboxone is given initially to stabilize the addicted individual and then the dosage is slowly decreased. Specially trained Registered Nurses work with the individual to help manage any withdrawal symptoms that they may have during this tapering process. The individual is then given Naltrexone to alleviate or improve the opiate cravings and help maintain long term abstinence. This process generally takes 3-13 weeks and is combined with a specially designed counseling program.

Our goal at the assisted recovery center is to help people get off opiates, maintain abstinence and get their lives back.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

When expressed appropriately, anger is a healthy normal emotion. When anger is expressed in unhealthy ways, it can cause a myriad of problems within personal relationships, at work, and within the community. Unhealthy ways of coping with and expressing anger can affect your health, increasing the risk of high blood pressure, digestive issues, heart problems, and substance abuse disorders.

Many of our clients find abstinence a more feasible option
after participating in our program, which includes:

  • Constantly feeling irritated, impatient, or hostile

  • Persistent negative thinking or focusing on negative events

  • Feeling that your anger is controlling you

  • Frequent arguments with your spouse, partner, children, family members, and/or colleagues

  • Threatening acts of violence towards others or property

  • Damaging property when angry or after arguments with others

  • Acts of physical violence towards your loved ones or others

  • Unsafe behavior, such as driving recklessly

  • Avoidance of situations due to anxiety or depression around outbursts of anger

  • Damaged relationships with family members, friends, or colleagues

An anger management course will help you recognize your anger triggers as well as unhealthy patterns of coping with anger. An anger management course will provide you with stress management tools, communication strategies, problem solving skills, and cognitive restructuring ( the reframing of negative or irrational thoughts).

At Assisted Recovery Center of Georgia, we offer a group therapy anger management course led by a licensed clinician. Completion of the anger management course will provide you with the tools and skills to experience and express your anger in a healthy way. If you are seeking an anger management course or if your lawyer has suggested an anger management course, we can help. For further information, please contact our office.
